Ep 150: Artemis: The Ungovernable Goddess

Artemis: The Ungovernable Goddess – Sovereignty, Strategy, and the Wild Feminine

In this episode you are getting my master class, where we dive deep into the energy of Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the hunt, the moon, and the wilderness. Forget the maiden narrative—this is a channeled exploration of Artemis as a fierce, ungovernable, and autonomous triple goddess (Maiden, Mother, and Crone).

We explore how she functions as a goddess of self-revolution, challenging us to reclaim our full spectrum and dismantle internalized patriarchy.

Who is Artemis?

Beyond the historical rundown, Artemis presents as the Goddess of the Hunt and the Lady of Wild Things. She is the goddess of childbirth, transitions, and initiations. In this ecosystem, she asks one straightforward question: "What do you want?" She is the channel of clarity, teaching us that while we can have anything, we must cultivate the patience, practice, and strategy to hit the mark.

Key Themes & Insights

  • Self-Sovereignty: Born first and immediately assisting in the birth of her twin, Apollo, Artemis requested eternal sovereignty at age three. She represents the capacity to live authentically, based on conscious intention rather than trauma or external control.
  • The Dark Goddess: Artemis is both light and dark. As a "Dark Goddess," she disrupts the status quo, refuses to shrink to please others, and demands non-conformity to patriarchal standards.
  • The "Body" Goddess: She honors the physical vessel as the "sacred temple" and "home base." Her preferred invocations are nature magic, athleticism, and dance.
  • Gender Non-Conformity: While presenting as she/her in this channel, Artemis’s name is gender-neutral, and she resonates deeply with they/them energies as well as deeply sapphic narratives.

Artemis in the Tarot

We redefine several cards through the lens of Artemis’s strategic and sovereign energy:

  • The Lovers: Focuses on being your own best friend and cultivating self-trust before entering partnerships.
  • The Emperor: The wise, balanced leader playing the long game.
  • Temperance: Devotion to the "mundane basics" (repetition and practice) to achieve mastery.
  • 6 of Swords: Moving on when "the area no longer provides for the hunt."
  • 7 of Swords: Strategy and healthy patterns—walking through the front door rather than lying to yourself.
  • 10 of Swords: The end of the "bullshit" and the instigation of hard-earned empowerment.
